SCIENCE AT SOUTH PETHERWIN SCHOOL

Our school vision promotes 'learning today to change tomorrow' and our science curriculum allows children to be inspired by scientists of the past and ask and answer questions necessary to change the future.

Science teaching at South Petherwin School aims to give all children a lifelong love of science through a strong understanding of the world around them whilst acquiring specific skills and knowledge helping them to think scientifically.  The children are exposed to a rich and varied curriculum through a range of exciting and engaging topics which aim to challenge and meet the needs of our children.  Scientific enquiry skills are clearly embedded to develop children's curiosity, encourage them to ask questions about the world around them and to become independent learners in exploring possible answers for their scientific based questions.  Children develop a range of scientific vocabulary to help them to effectively communicate their ideas, questions and findings.
