It has been an incredibly busy and exciting time at South Petherwin Primary School. Our pupils have been representing the school with pride, exploring far beyond the classroom, and bringing home some fantastic achievements. Here is a look at what we have been up to recently:
Big City Adventures: Year 5 & 6 London Residential
Our Year 5 and 6 children packed their bags for a whirlwind three-day residential trip to London, and what an unforgettable experience it was!
The children had a brilliant time exploring the capital and taking in its famous landmarks. Educational highlights included a deep dive into the Natural History Museum and hands-on experimenting in the interactive Wonderlab inside the Science Museum, which sparked a lot of curiosity and creativity.
To cap off an incredible three days, the group headed to Legoland, where everyone—staff included—had an absolute whale of a time on the rides. The children showed fantastic independence and exemplary manners throughout the trip.
Double Bronze at the Cornwall School Games!
We are exceptionally proud of our children who recently qualified to represent the entire Launceston area at the prestigious Cornwall School Games finals.
Both our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams put on spectacular performances, showcasing brilliant teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. Competing against the best schools in the county, both teams fought hard to secure a fantastic third-place finish, bringing home well-deserved bronze medals! Huge congratulations to all our sporting superstars.
Making a Splash: Class 2’s Commotion in the Ocean
Closer to home, Class 2 has been diving deep into their current topic, "Commotion in the Ocean." To bring their learning to life, the children enjoyed a brilliant educational visit to the National Marine Aquarium.
They got up close with sharks, rays, and countless colourful fish, turning their classroom learning into a real-world underwater adventure.
